Travel Highlight Reel

About Me.
Hey there! I’m Gilly, a free-spirited traveler with an insatiable love for exploring the world, one adventure at a time. From bustling city streets to hidden mountain villages, I find beauty in every corner of the globe—and I’m here to share it with you!
My journey started with a simple desire: to step outside my comfort zone and embrace the unknown. Along the way, I’ve wandered through ancient alleyways, tasted flavors I never knew existed, and met incredible souls who’ve changed the way I see the world.
This blog is my little corner of the internet where I document my travels, share practical tips, and (hopefully) inspire you to chase your own adventures. Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or just daydreaming about your next escape, you’re in the right place.
So, grab a cup of coffee (or a backpack!) and join me as we explore the magic of travel together.
Let’s go places!
Education
2014 - 2018
Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism & Media Studies.
(University of California, Los Angeles)
My passion for storytelling truly came to life during my time at UCLA, where I studied journalism and media with a focus on travel writing and digital storytelling. I learned how to capture the essence of places and cultures through words, turning experiences into immersive narratives. Studying abroad in Spain was a defining moment—it deepened my love for cultural exploration and reinforced my belief that travel is about human connection just as much as it is about discovering new places.
2012 - 2014
Degree in Photography & Visual Arts.
(New York Institute of Photography)
For me, photography is more than just taking pictures—it’s about telling stories without words. At the New York Institute of Photography, I refined my ability to capture emotions, landscapes, and everyday moments that define a place. From street photography to scenic vistas, I focused on creating images that make people feel like they’re right there with me. Learning about composition, lighting, and editing has helped me bring my travel experiences to life in a way that words alone can’t always do.
2010 - 2012
Diploma in Cultural Anthropology.
(University of British Columbia)
Before I ever picked up a camera or wrote my first travel piece, I was fascinated by people—their traditions, their stories, and the ways culture shapes our lives. Studying cultural anthropology at UBC gave me a deeper appreciation for the diversity of the world and helped me understand the importance of traveling with respect and curiosity. Through field studies and research on ethical tourism, I developed a more mindful approach to exploring new places—one that prioritizes learning, connection, and responsible storytelling.
